SARA Pharm scientists, in collaboration with ‘‘Ilie Murgulescu’’ Institute of Physical Chemistry, Romanian Academy, and Faculty of Applied Chemistry and Material Science, University ‘‘Politehnica’’ of Bucharest, synthesized and characterized shape-stabilized phase change materials (PCMs) based on NaCl–CaCl2 molten salt mixture and mesoporous silica. This is the first study to date to investigate potential advantages of ordered mesoporous silica in composite PCMs. These materials show promise for high-temperature heat storage through combined latent and sensible storage mechanisms.
